AstraZeneca Research Bursaries (and Sandwich Placements) in Synthetic Organic Chemistry
Students who are strongly motivated towards a career in organic chemistry research are fundamental to pharmaceutical R&D. At AstraZeneca, we've been long-time advocates of industrial placements and work experience that provide training relevant to the industry. We take it as our responsibility to help promising organic chemistry undergraduates mature into future researchers.
Research Bursaries in Synthetic Organic Chemistry
AstraZeneca is supporting an annual Research Bursary scheme for up to 15 promising undergraduates each year from UK universities, with an interest in practical organic chemistry research relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
The Research Bursary scheme will provide bursaries of £2k per year over the ensuing period of undergraduate study, and a requirement during 3rd or 4th year of study to undertake either a sandwich placement at AstraZeneca or a vacation research placement in a university or an AstraZeneca research group.
Candidates will be identified for interview at AstraZeneca during 2nd-3rd November inclusive, under the combined AstraZeneca Research Bursaries and Sandwich Placements in Synthetic Organic Chemistry recruitment process.
Sandwich Placements in Synthetic Organic Chemistry
An annual sandwich student recruitment campaign will continue to exist alongside the Research Bursary Scheme. AstraZeneca will offer up to 14 sandwich student placements for students in their 3rd or 4th year of study.
Candidates will be identified for interview at AstraZeneca during 2nd-3rd November, under the combined AstraZeneca Research Bursaries and Sandwich Placements in Synthetic Organic Chemistry recruitment process.
Applications/Eligibility
Research Bursary offers will be conditional on candidate's undertaking a research placement, which can be either a sandwich placement at AstraZeneca, or a vacation research placement at AstraZeneca or within a university research laboratory.
An online application process for both schemes will run from 1st September 2010 with a closing date of 17 October 2010.
